ROOTED IN NATURE: HOW I SEE THE FUTURE OF CONSUMER GOODS

Before I ever designed a brand, I was your customer.

I still am. I'm the one in the little shop, turning the jar around to read every ingredient. I'm the one who follows the trail back to the farm before I click "add to basket". And I'd love to tell you what I'm searching for, because I think you're already making it.

WHERE MY CHOICES COME FROM

As a child, I watched nature closely. I saw how it grows and changes through the year, how it takes on every shape and colour, and how generously it gives us what we need.

My grandma kept an old naturopathy book where you could look up which plant helps with which illness. Whenever one of us fell ill, she opened it before anything else. The pharmacy came later, if we still needed it.

That habit stayed with me. When I moved to the city and became a mum, it grew into a quiet rule for our home. The city was fast, chaotic, heavy on the spirit and not always clean, and I needed my everyday things to bring some calm and goodness back in. So I chose products made from natural materials, with natural ingredients inside. I felt the difference almost straight away — in my body, my energy, and my health.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

When I choose a product, the price tells me very little. I look for signs of care. I want to know it was made by hand, or in small batches to keep waste low. I want to know its ingredients come from nature, grown to organic standards and bought directly from the farmers, so the whole circle stays fair.

When I find a product like that, it becomes part of my day. It turns into a small ritual — the face oil before bed, the candle on my desk that makes a morning feel like a grounding, loving routine. It gives me a sense of safety, the certainty that it won't harm my child or me. I feel good about my choice, and that feeling quietly shapes a healthier way of living.

If you're a founder in this space, you'll probably recognise every word. It's how you work already.

WHERE YOUR CARE GETS LOST

Here's what I see from the other side of the shelf.

So many of the brands I'd love to support slip past me at first glance. Their care is real, yet it hides in long captions, an About page I have to dig for, or a badge squeezed onto the back of the label. In my feed, they sit beside a dozen other earthy, botanical, beige brands, and they all start to blur together.

You might know that feeling from your side, too. You see years of research, sourcing, testing and relationship-building. Your customer sees a product. You've changed the colours again, rewritten the tagline once more, and it still doesn't feel like the depth of what you do.

That gap tells you something gentle and important. Your work has grown deeper, and the outside of your brand hasn't caught up with the inside yet. But what you are seeking is wholeness and feeling at home in your own business. Because you’ve started your dream as an act of alignment — with your values, your body, your sense of purpose, your relationship to nature.

THE FUTURE BELONGS TO MAKERS LIKE YOU

I believe the future of consumer goods is growing smaller, slower and closer to the source. It belongs to makers who know their farmers by name and care about every step. Customers like me are already searching for you. We're selective, and we're happy to pay for the product we can trust.

We can only choose you once we recognise you, though.

So here's what I'd love you to take with you: the care you pour into your product deserves to be felt before anyone reads a single word. When your packaging, your words and your whole presence carry your values, the right people stop scrolling. They feel it straight away — “this one is for me”.

WHEN YOU'RE READY

If your brand still feels like the early, handmade version of a business that has grown so much deeper, I'd love to help it catch up. That's what The Flourish Foundation is for — a brand rooted in who you are, so the people already looking for you can finally connect with you.

Write to me at hello@thebrandflourist.co or apply here. I'd be so happy to hear your story.
